Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has increased assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while officials has requested "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, Europe and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.
